Oh S(e)r(iou)sly Read Those ARCs! Readathon TBR

Hi! I am so sorry for being absent from blogosphere the last 2 weeks, I had exams so I wasn’t able to come online that much. So sorry for that. But, anyhow let’s start with the post now. April is mostly going to be a free month for me when it comes to college stuff, so I have decided to take part in quite a few challenges including the one I am going to talk about in this post. I will talk about the other challenges in another post, which will be going live day after tomorrow. All the challenges apart from this one and another one are personal challenges so they are not time sensitive, that is why I allowed myself to laze around a bit more and publish the other post day after tomorrow. The other challenge which is not a personal challenge is an Instagram Challenge, I will talk about it more in my upcoming post, but if you want to know more and participate in the Instagram challenge click on this link now as the challenge is beginning on 1st April. I opened my Insta account back in Jan but haven’t posted a thing up until now, so I was hoping of doing Hate Khori (this is a ritual that we Bengali’s follow, to know what happens in this ritual click here, but in the context of this post by Hate Khori I mean that using the Insta challenge I will be commencing or starting my Insta account) of my account with this challenge. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with this challenge. Anyway, now, finally without any further ado let’s begin with this current post.

This spring I have taken a pledge to reach that coveted 80% mark on Netgalley and also to clear out my ARC backlog from Edelweiss and other sources. So, you can well imagine how happy I was when I found out that Joy from Oh Srsly Books was organising this readathon. Before I get into my TBR, first let me tell you a bit about this readathon.

What is Oh Srsly Read Those ARCs! Readathon?

Oh Srsly Read Those ARCs! Readathon hosted by Joy from Oh Srsly Books is a month long readathon that will take place from 1st of April to 30th April. The main goal of this readathon is to help us make a significant dent in that overflowing pile of ARCs. Even though this readathon is mainly focused on ARCs, it is also perfectly fine if you enter with other books. You can read books that have been laying around on your physical shelves, on your ARC shelves,… The most important part is that you have fun! You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle. Yes I have an ARC of this and yes I haven’t read it yet and yes, I know I am a terrible person.

The Princess Electric by Derek Silver. This has such an intricate cover and I also really love the colour scheme.

Read a book by a author you haven’t read before

The Invisible Life of Addie Laure by V.E Schwab. YES, I know I don’t deserve to live, but in my defence I got this book when I was smack dab in the middle of my placement interviews.

Zara Hossain is Here by Sabina Khan

Read a book that has been on your shelf the longest

Only When it is Us by Chloe Liese. This was one of the first books I downloaded on Netgalley. I had recently opened my Netgalley account, when I saw Dini from Dinipandareads raving about this book, so I went ahead and downloaded it, and then it has been near a year and I haven’t read it still. WOW!

Clues to the Universe by Christina Li. It is a middle grade book and also it has few sci-fi elements I think, both are genres I don’t read much (I know middle grade is technically a age group not a genre, but this is the closest one I could find to the given prompt, please forgive me Joy)

American Betiya by Anuradha D. Rajurkar. I started it a few weeks ago but put it down. I was really enjoying it, especially the Indian elements but I was just not in a mood for contemporary at that time so I decided to put it down for awhile, but I am really excited to dive back into it in the month of April.

A word. I know I don’t need to explain myself, but I still like to say some things. There are quite a few titles on this list, after seeing whose names you were like “She is so lucky to have these titles, yet she didn’t have the decency to review these books before the release date”. Firstly and most importantly, when I opened my Netgalley account I didn’t know that you were supposed to review the books before the release date (I know the name itself says Advanced Reader Copies, but I was a total noob in the book reviewing world back when I signed up on Netgalley and Edelweiss), I got to know about this rule long after through Twitter. Secondly, I acquired most of these books in the months of July to October, which were filled with various interviews and placement exams and college work. I admit that I should have requested less titles, but the truth is a lot of these books are very costly in India and I am definitely going to review them eventually, so I didn’t see any harm in requesting these books, plus as I mentioned I didn’t even know that I was expected to review these books before the release date.
