Mid-Year Freak Out Tag!

Hi guys, welcome! I am finally here with my mid-year freak out tag!!!!!! I was tagged by Nikki Swift Reads to do this tag. Go and follow her blog, she is just awesome!

Now, without much further ado, let’s begin this Tag.

How Much Have You Read?

I have read 22 books so far this year.

Best Book You have Read so far?

Anyone: What is your favourite book?

Me: *starts sweating* *Forgets the name of every damn book I have ever read*

Thank god, you didn’t ask me this question face to face, or you would have been subjected to a very awkward awkward moment! It is more awkward than you think, imagine a non-reader asking you for a rec and you a book blogger, staring at their face as if you have heard the word ‘book’ for the first time. Yay, you get the picture. Anyway, for the sake of this post, I have gone through my Goodreads read pile, so that I don’t embarrass myself here at least, and have come up with two books that I think are my best of the year so far.

Best Sequel you have read so far?

I haven’t read any sequel so far this year. Ya, I know I am the worst, I start a series, read the first book, and then never continue…. But I will do better in the next half, I promise.

New Release you haven’t read, but want to?

Okay, I am restricting myself to only 3 choices, because this might as well be the question where I utilise my complete 3 GB memory.

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year?

Again restricting myself to three choices. But if you want more, you can read this post here, where I talked about 9 of my most anticipated releases, all of which are releasing/ has released in the second half of 2020.

(Okay, this book was not on my radar. I am so thankful to Hear Our Voices Tour for bringing this book to my attention and also for selecting me for their blog tour of this book. I just can’t wait to read this book.)

Biggest Disappointment?

For this I have 2 books.

I love coming in terms with your sexuality stories, because, I personally relate to them very much. So, this book should have been a perfect for me. But this book was just going so so slowly, I was bored out of my mind. I had to dnf it.

This was one of my 5 star predictions, but I ended up rating it only 3.75. I had such high expectations from this book after reading the synopsis, but well, suffice to say I was disappointed. It was a good book, but just couldn’t meet my expectations.

Biggest Surprise?

For this also I have 2 books.

I never thought I will be able to relate to Laura’s story as much as I did. This was just such a great book, can’t recommend it enough.

The Prince and The Dressmaker is making an appearance again. This was my first graphic novel, so I didn’t know what to expect, but believe me, I never expected I will love it this much. It was one of the most cutest, sweetest story I have ever read and the illustrations, omg!

New Favourite Author?

Jen Wang

S.J Watson

Jodi Picoult

-Okay, one more and I promise I will stop-

John Marrs

Underrated Gems you have discovered recently?

Idiot by Laura Clery. Not many people have read this memoir, and if you are one of them then I highly suggest you read it now, or feel my wrath.

After the Accident by Kerry Wilkinson. Okay, if you want to read this book, I suggest taking a few days off from your work, because you won’t be able to put this book down once you start reading it, believe me.

Rereads this year?

None. I don’t reread books.

Newest Fictional Crush?

Frances from The Prince and The Dressmaker. Ya’ll know how much I love someone who stands up for their dreams.

Nick from Heartstopper. Okay, he is the cutest thing ever.

Newest Favourite Character?

Apart from the 2 characters mentioned in the last question, I also really liked Nina from Six of Crows and Draupadi from The Palace of Illusions.

Book that made you cry?

Okay, so not full on cry, just tears filling my eyes, I very rarely full on cry while reading a book.

Book that made you happy?

I know you are getting tired of seeing this book here, but please, just one more time.

This book made me really happy, especially the last few pages.

Favourite Book to Film Adaptation?

I don’t even have to think, my answer for this one is Little Women (2019). One of the best movies I have ever seen.

Most beautiful cover you have bought or received this year?

What books you need to read by the end of this year?

Okay, look, if I answer this honestly, you will be reading this post till this time next month, there are just so many books I need to get to before the end of this year. So, I won’t be talking in terms of actual books.

I need to read all 25 books I currently have on my Netgalley TBR pile and also the books from the tours I signed up for, and then I also need to read the three new releases I talked about in this post. And also I need to read all the books that have been sitting on physical and e-shelf for more than a year now.

Favourite post this year so far?

I have 2.

  1. 6 months Bloggiversary Special: Why I love Book Blogging?
  2. 8 Reasons why I love mystery/thriller

Favourite Book Community member?

There are a lot of bloggers I really really love, so it is very difficult to pick just one or two or three for that matter. But for the sake of this post, I am going to randomly select 3 bloggers of my favourite’s list.

Dini@dinipandareads. I love her blog, it is so very colourful and beautiful and cute. This is her Mid Year Freakout Tag (okay, I just randomly tagged one of her posts, so that she will know I have talked about her in this post! 😉 )

Alex@Whimsy Pages. I really like her reviews. And I also really like her header images. Again going to randomly tag one of her posts, so that she knows I have talked about her: Mid Year Goals Review.

And a new blogger, Nehal@Nehal Says. I love the variety of this blog. From stories to reviews, Nehal talks about a lot of things. Okay, I know Nehal is going to see my post anyway, but still going to randomly tag on of the posts, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins- Spoiler Free Review(Book 4 of the 20 Books of Summer 20 Challenge)

Who I Tag?

  1. Natalia@Al Garete
  2. mrsswiftnib@Books For The Love of Words
  3. Alex@WOODSsoftheBOOKS
  4. You!

Please, leave the links to your mid-year freak out tags or any other half yearly stats post you have done. I would really like to check them out.

  1. I think I’m going to work on this tag, as well. And like you, I often draw a blank when someone asks me some of these questions and I don’t have a list in front of me. Hahaha!

    1. Me too! I love Laura’s videos on fb. She is so so hilarious…. I actually got to know about her book through her channel only. She used to enact some scenes from the book. This book has that touch of hers throughout, it is super hilarious. But behind all that humor it also deals with some serious issues. Highly recommend it. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did.
